Jacqueline Copeland is an art historian and experienced museum professional for over 30 years. She has served in senior leadership positions at the Walker Art Center, Minneapolis, the Walters Art Museum and the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of Maryland African American History and Culture, Baltimore, where she served as Executive Director. She has curated several exhibitions by African American artists including Barbara Chase-Riboud (Walters), and Jacob Lawrence, Romare Bearden and Elizabeth Catlett (Reginald Lewis). She has served as an adjunct professor of art history, African American Art and Museum Studies in colleges and universities in Illinois, Minnesota and most recently, 9 years at Towson University. The recipient of many awards and honors including one of Baltimore Sun’s “25 Women to Watch”, and one of Baltimore Magazine’s “Women Who Move Maryland”, Copeland also serves as a curator of private collections, a museum consultant, and a Peer Reviewer for the American Alliance of Museums (AAM). Copeland sits on the Collections and Programs and the Exhibition Committees at Hillwood Museum, Washington, DC., and on the Board of the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance (GBCA).
