Julia (Julie) Madden is a lifelong champion for the arts and is a passionate history enthusiast. In addition to the Maryland State Arts Council, Julie serves on the boards of Maryland Citizens for the Arts, the Maryland Humanities, the Maryland Commission on Artistic Property, the Maryland Historical Society, the Academy Art Museum in Easton, Maryland, as well as being an ex-officio board member of the Walters Art Museum and the Baltimore Museum of Art. After a career as a commodities broker she worked as the Maryland Director of Arts and Community Initiatives implementing cultural programs for the office of the Governor. Julie is a proud alumni of Leadership Maryland class of 2017, and holds an M.A. in the History of Decorative Arts from the Smithsonian-Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C.
