Ben Seigel is Deputy Comptroller of Maryland for Policy, Public Works, and Investment. He has served in a range of policy, program, and partnership development roles in the government, nonprofit, and university sectors throughout his career. Prior to joining the Comptroller’s Office, Ben was an economic development consultant working with Baltimore City and Montgomery County on small business development and investor attraction. Previously, he was the inaugural Executive Director of the Johns Hopkins 21st Century Cities Initiative, an applied research center working with cities on place-based solutions. Ben also served for six years in the Obama Administration at the Department of Labor and White House. Earlier in his career, Ben worked for nonprofits in New York and Oregon focused on workforce, economic, and community development. Ben has degrees from New York University and Swarthmore College.
