The Maryland Department of Commerce is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Grants Director (Administrator I) within its Division of Marketing, Tourism, and the Arts, Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC).
The Grants Director oversees the administrative and programmatic grant management functions for all MSAC grant programs, ensuring all timelines are met for all grant making activities. The incumbent supervises a Management Associate and is responsible for all data management and grant related reporting activities – reviewing, analyzing, reconciling and monitoring grant agreement invoices; and initiating and monitoring the grant payment process – for 800+ grantees annually.
Specific functions include: communication and coordination with program staff; providing guidance of grants management and professional activities for staff members; development and implementation of system processes and controls; design and implementation of grant making technology applications and oversight of the development, preparation, and presentation of reports reflecting data in response to programming and initiatives; monitoring and reporting on Federal grants received; development and facilitation of panelist orientations and meetings; and ensuring that MSAC is in full compliance with applicable State, Federal, and Agency grant regulations and policies. This position provides oversight and technical assistance to artists and organizations, analysis of their compliance with established policies and procedures to maintain grant compliance and eligibility, and it serves as the industry expert and spokesperson for MSAC grant programs.
The selected employee will possess proficiency with Google Suite (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Meet, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Groups) and other relevant software; excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills to work with high level public and private sector officials and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and constituents; the ability to effectively present information, explain policy, and respond to inquiries; and the ability to manage and effectively complete multiple concurrent and high priority tasks.
